​​​What is the WDSC Academy?
Wembley Downs Soccer Club introduced an Academy in 2025 for Mixed MiniRoos teams as a trial.
In 2026 the Club is expanding the Academy to include Juniors Mixed and Girls teams up to the age of 16.
Why?
Since the introduction of State League and the Junior Development League in 2025, the club is focused on finding ways to develop players to eventually participate in these leagues.

While we have been fortunate to have dedicated volunteers, we have now introduced professional coaches.

How is it run?
An extra day of training will be run at the club with support of professional coaches.
The 2026 Academy will run from beginning of March – end of September.
Please note that the 2027 Academy will trial in October 2026 and run until September 2027.
Who is eligible?
Places will be offered to orange, green and blue MiniRoos teams as well as the top Junior teams in each age group (Ideally JDL level).
How much will it cost?
The Club wants to make the Academy affordable to everyone with the support of Sponsors. The cost is only $100 per player.
What do you get?
Professional coaching.
Academy Shirt (Also can be used as an away kit if the whole team signs up for the Academy. This is strongly advised)
Academy Jacket.
When is it run?
MiniRoos mixed will be on Mondays
8s, 9s and 10s will be 5pm – 6pm
11s and 12s will be 6:15pm – 7:15pm
Girls will be Fridays
10s, 12s and 13s will be 5pm – 6pm
15s and 16s will be 6:15pm – 7:15pm
Juniors mixed will be Fridays
13s and 14s will be 5pm – 6pm
15s and 16s will be 6:15pm – 7:15pm
(Academy training will run with or without guest coaches as team coaches are expected to be involved)
Commitment
Academy players are encouraged to be involved in the club.
Support other teams.
Help coach younger age groups.
Ball boys/girls for State League and Womens top teams matches.
Walk out with players for State League and Womens top team matches.
Help set up pitch for State League and Womens top team matches.
